Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Rural Revitalisation: The rural road to $5-trillion GDP (Financial Express)

Financial Express published an article stating that rural revitalization should be driven by promoting agro-industries and linkages between farm and non-farm sectors. Rural revitalization requires a transformative approach that envisions making rural areas a better place to live and work. The authors make several recommendations for revitalizing rural areas. One recommendation is based on an IFPRI study on prioritization of investment opportunities also suggested that investment in education and health in rural areas significantly contributes to reducing poverty and increasing agricultural growth.
