How digitization could transform rural farming in Africa (CNBC Africa)

June 24, 2019

CNBC Africa conducted an interview with Director for Africa Ousmane Badiane on key themes and goals for the 2019 Malabo Montpelier Forum on Digitalization in African Agriculture. Badiane described the forum’s goal of showcasing those African countries effectively bringing rural areas into the digital ecosystem in order to show governments what actions are possible. He highlighted a focus on what governments are doing to facilitate the development of digital services in three key areas: Institutional innovations, the regulatory environment and infrastructure projects. Badiane also noted private sector involvement and ultimately emphasized that digital technologies offer key opportunities for Africa to overcome obstacles to food security.
