Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

“Gender Equality in Rural Africa”, African decision-makers want to move from commitments to results (Telegrammme 220)

Telegramme 220 (Togo) published an article on the ReSAKSS-Africa conference and the 2019 Annual trends and outlook report: Gender equality in rural Africa: From commitments to outcomes. (2019 ATOR). Senior Research Fellow Agnes Quisumbing stated that “the new element with this year’s ATOR report is that it highlights the many costs gender inequality at all levels: from the individual to the nation, to the household and the community.” Gender-sensitive policies and programs are essential for the effective advancement of the Malabo agricultural transformation agenda.
