Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

GCARD3 (2015-2016) is the third Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development. Organized by the Global Forum on Agriculture Research (GFAR) and CGIAR, GCARD is a global conversation between the research community and civil society on the future of agricultural research and innovation.

IFPRI will participate in the following activities at GCARD3:

Technical support for Africa’s science and technology agenda: A partners meeting (Meeting Summary and Agenda)

This side event will provide an overview of ongoing work to support reinvestment in agricultural science in Africa supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the CGIAR Research Program on Policies, Institutions, and Markets (PIM). Organizers also will receive feedback from the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), African research partners, and CGIAR partners to identify opportunities for collaboration and strategy and explore how this work can best support CAADP and CGIAR shared research priorities under the Malabo Declaration goals and targets.
