Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

IFPRI is participating in Regional Climate Weeks 2023. Four Regional Climate Weeks will be held this year to build momentum ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai and the conclusion of the first global stocktake, designed to chart the way for fulfilling the Paris Agreement’s key goals.

Event Description:

Sustainable transformation of food systems in the global south is thwarted by frequent climate-related shocks. Lack of integration of food security and climate action goals and related policy, institutional, and technological bottlenecks call for co-financing strategies and innovations. This side event will bring together investors, researchers, policy makers, and practitioners to promote south-south cross learning on achieving climate resilient food systems goals. The side event will identify the key drivers of climate action that help vulnerable food systems recover from shocks, it will also highlight the opportunities to strengthen to the policy, institutional and technological innovation sat the national and regional levels that can expedite the process for improving resilience of vulnerable food systems.
